Whitehaven Beach is located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef and is part of the 74 island wonders here in the Whitsundays. Whitehaven Beach is most famous for it's pristine white silica sand & turquoise water. In 2017, Whitehaven beach was rated the #1 beach in the South Pacific in the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards. Then in 2018, it was voted as 'the second best beach on the planet' in TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards. If that's not enough to entice you we've given you 5 reasons to explore this award winning beach with us!

Why we love Whitehaven Beach

The pristine & untouched environment
Whitehaven Beach is one of the largest of the 74 islands here in the Whitsundays. The beach stretches along the island for 7 kilometres, which is made up of soft white silica sand that is among the purest of the world. The island is protected by the Whitsunday Islands National Park and has been voted the world's most eco-friendly beach and Queensland's Cleanest Beach.

Walking Trails
For a breathtaking view of the famous beach you can make your way up to Tongue Point, Hill Inlet Lookout on Whitsunday Island. The ultimate time to visit the lookout is low tide, you'll experience swirls of turquoise, blue and green contrasting against the impeccably white sand.

Unwind on the Beach
This one is an all time favourite for us and many visitors, in fact we name this an absolute MUST when visiting this stunning beach. Laze on the beaches soft silica sand, enjoy a swim in the crystal clear water and take in the scenery, now that's serenity. We can take you to locations on the beach away from the crowds and sight seers to insure you're not disturbed while relaxing.

Experience the Wildlife
As if the island wasn't beautiful enough already, Mother Nature has inhabited the area with curious wildlife. Among the most commonly seen animals on the mainland and in the water are the Green Sea Turtles, Proserpine Rock Wallaby, Whales, Dolphins & Manta Rays. An array of fish and birds also inhabit the island and you could be lucky enough to enjoy their company on your next adventure!

Recommended Extra's
The island itself is more than enough to keep you occupied, although we have some fantastic suggestions to take your experience to the next level. Considering the island is untouched there isn't anywhere to purchase food, we recommend BYO lunch or we can organise a picnic lunch and refreshments as requested by you. Activities that we recommend for this location include snorkelling, inflatable toys to relax on or paddle boarding. Ask us about our additional activities to find out more!
